Skiing has been enjoyed on the Aonach Mor since the 1930 and we are excited to announce that Cobbs Hotels and the Nevis Range development will be opening the purpose built 26 bedroomed Nevis Base Camp Hotel in January 2023.
The hotel has been built to have the least impact on the environment possible, incorporating recycled wood from the redundant sheds throughout the build and guests will notice that even the bedroom headboards are recycled!
The hotel offers a range of bedrooms to suite everyone with standard, mountain view and superior twin/double rooms along with accessible and family options sleeping up to six.
The building has been aesthetically designed to blend into the natural environment and a lot of old artefacts from the original building have been incorporated into the new Base Camp Hotel.
The Nevis Range Base Camp Hotel will have a combination of double, triple, and family rooms as well as accessible and group accommodation available with two sets of bunk beds and a further double bed sleeping up to six. Each of the rooms will be equipped with high pressure showers, WiFi, multi-channel televisions and a local hospitality tray as standard.
Full Scottish breakfast is available (At a cost of £11.50 per person ) in the Pine Martin Café situated on the hotel’s ground floor where guests can enjoy the award-winning Red Box specially blended coffee or one of the many speciality teas as well as tasting the world-famous range of Cobbs freshly home baked sponge cakes, muffins and traybakes.
For those venturing upwards, there is also The Snow Goose Restaurant at the top of the slope where visitors and guests can enjoy a warming hot chocolate or one of a wide range of speciality dishes changing daily.
The Nevis Range Mountain Gondola itself is within a short walking distance of the hotel and remains the only one of its kind in Britain reaching the height of 650 metres. It was originally built, on the north face of Aonach Mòr, the eighth highest mountain in Britain, as a way to transport skiers to the slopes however the Mountain Gondola has become an all year round attraction allowing visitors to enjoy the scenic ride to the top and witness the stunning views and take in the clear mountain air.
It is also widely used as a short cut by climbers to the many challenging winter climbing routes on Aonach Mòr; by hill walkers to access summer routes and by mountain bikers for uplift who then ride the exciting and challenging downhill and by paragliders on their journey to the clouds.
Nevis Range look forward to introducing visitors old and new to the fabulous new Base Camp Hotel.
