A relaxed weekend workshop of uplifting songs to celebrate love for the planet and sustain hope for climate action
Booking for this event is essential as spaces are limited. Tickets are by donation.
It will be a relaxed workshop where we’ll learn some lovely simple harmony songs that celebrate the natural world, show we care for the planet we share, and sustain our hope for climate action. The event is part of the Highlands and Islands Climate Festival. The Sunday session will take place within the Lochaber Climate Fair.
The workshop will be suitable for all abilities. No singing experience is needed. We’ll learn songs by ear, with no need to read music. It’ll be safe and supportive for timid singers. We’ll be singing for the feelgood fun of mingling our voices, and to lighten our hearts. It will be led by Mandy Ketchin from Music Shed Community Choir, who is a member of the Natural Voice Network.
Provisional programme
Saturday (in Small Hall)
Door open, kettle on 10:30
Session 1, 11:00 to 12:45
Lunch
Session 2, 1:45 to 3:00

Sunday (in Foyer or Main Hall within the Climate Fair)
Session 4, 1:30 to 3:30, with time to look round the Climate Fair
If the weather’s fine, we’ll sing outside both days.
Please bring your own indoor picnic lunch for Saturday. Tea, herb tea and coffee will be available throughout the day (though coffee’s not great for vocal chords!). Bringing a water bottle is a good idea for throat clearing. There will be a pop-up cafe on Sunday at the Climate Fair.
Please note the workshop isn’t ideal for young voices. Singers under 16 need to be accompanied by an adult please. Please skip the workshop if you have any cold, cough, covid or flu symptoms. Please let us know as soon as possible if you are unable to make it on the day.
The workshop has been organised by Lochaber Environmental Group in partnership with Music Shed Community Choir. For more information, email mandyketchin@naturalvoice.net
